Customized Suite Provides Small and Mid-Sized Enterprises With the Benefits of Outsourcing Security at a Reduced Cost

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 20, 2004 - Counterpane Internet Security, Inc., the leader in managed security services, today announced the availability of a suite of services designed specifically for the security needs and resources of small and mid-sized enterprises. The Counterpane Enterprise Protection Suite for Small and Mid-sized Enterprises provides customers with a higher level of protection through round the clock monitoring and management of critical security devices by security experts at a fraction of the cost of doing it themselves.

Security is one of the top three IT investments small and medium-sized enterprises plan to make in 2004, according to a recent Forrester survey of 1,002 technology decision-makers at North American small and medium-sized enterprises. On average, small and medium-sized enterprises increased their 2004 IT budgets by 6.6 percent, compared with a 1.7 percent increase planned by large enterprises late last year.

Counterpane provides one Sentry, a security appliance installed within the customer's network that collects, sorts, correlates, and analyzes data from the firewall and IDS.
• Managed IDS Tuning - Counterpane manages and tunes one existing or Counterpane-provided IDS unit.
• Web Portal and Reporting - Includes access to weekly and monthly "CIO Reports" providing insight on the latest security events and trends and recommendations to ensure best practices. It can also provide monthly scan reports as needed.

Additional services include monthly internal or external Vulnerability Scanning. The suite is currently available through Counterpane's VAR channel.
